Combined spinal and epidural anesthesia with dexmedetomidine sedation during hip and knee arthroplasty

Background. Hip and knee arthroplasty (HKA) is a common surgical procedure. One of the diseases that negatively affect results these operations diabetes. The aim study: to determine effectiveness safety combined multimodal low-opioid anesthesia with dexmedetomidine sedation in patients undergoing HKA concomitant diabetes mellitus. Materials methods. In total, study included 45 who underwent HKA. They were divided into 3 groups depending on scheme anesthesia. group 1 (n = 15), multicomponent low-flow artificial lung ventilation was performed; 2 spinal used; epidural performed. Results. course all satisfactory, but less likely experience hyperdynamic reactions (tachycardia hypotension), postoperative nausea vomiting. Only one person from required ondansetron for treatment vomiting against 2, respectively (p < 0.05). Conclusions. Any proposed techniques can be used HKA, best have been obtained sedation.
